Our History

Turquoise carnival picture with feathered backpack

It all began in 1994, Dragons took to the roads of Notting Hill Carnival with the theme Dingolay. Encouraging masqueraders to play mas in a joyful and carefree manner, dancing to music from the well known calypso artist Mighty Shadow and others alike.

Dragons Cultural Club has a strong following, our masqueraders are our family. Our aim is to continue to be the family mas that all ages can come and be a part of. Our elders will teach our younger ones so we can continue on the road year on year.

Over the past years we have won many titles at Notting Hill Carnival including:

  • Best band on the road
  • Best children’s band
  • Biggest band on the road
  • Best King performance
  • Best Queen performance

We have showcased our costumes at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, at the Royal Albert Hall and at The O2 (Millennium Dome). Tourists from all over the world were in oar of the costumes on display. We have also shown costumes on the BBC where we explained the process of making carnival.
